Why
m’illumino?
Bridget Thompson, GCFP, Director
One of my favorite poems is by Giuseppe Ungaretti. Entitled ‘Morning’, it is just two words:
M’Illumino
d’immenso
‘I flood myself
with light of the immense’
In notes to JF Nims’
translation, he points out that ‘the real point of Ungaretti’s insight is
the effect of any vast reality of the physical universe on the human soul. Far
from dismaying the poet…,it leaves him exhilarant, with a sense of expansion, of
inner radiance. The poet is not illuminated from without by sea or sky; he
illuminated himself by the contact: the fire of his own soul burns high and
clear in his excitement…’ (The Poem Itself

My role as a Feldenkrais Practitioner (and
as director of
m’illumino) is to prepare a place, provide an
environment where you can learn.
I help you with touch and gentle movement to
expand your awareness of your relationship to the world, your shoulder, your
breath, your self, another. In this way you learn through gentle inquiry to pay
attention, increase focus, clarify intention and thus think, act, sense and feel
more effectively. As the quality of your movement improves, so does the quality
of your life.
m’illumino
is dedicated to your learning and your transformation. Here
you
choose,
you
imagine,
you
open,
you
transform,
you
flood yourself with light.
