Angelika Grossmann’s career as a scientist and yoga practitioner led her to develop a special place for people who have tension and stress-related disorders to safely practice the healing arts of yoga and meditation. Angelika enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. She honors the needs of the students and encourages them to accept where they are.
As a scientist at the UW she studied how the immune system and the nervous system are connected. To gain more knowledge about how stress can be relieved and the effects of Yoga practice on the mind-body she completed both Yoga and Meditation Teacher Training in Seattle WA.
In order to deepen her practice, she traveled to India and studied with Yoga teachers. She also became interested in the concept of Qi (Life Force) and the connection between body, mind and energy as taught by QiGong masters.
Her studies with a QiGong master led her to an advanced course taught in China. Using both Yoga and QiGong techniques she has taught classes in Seattle to students with different health challenges that include high stress, arthritis and low energy.
Her goal in establishing the Surya Yoga Studio is to teach students the art of releasing old, habitual patterns and to establish new healthful physical and mental patterns.
Surya Yoga is taught in small classes in a relaxed and safe environment customized for individual needs with a special focus on:
